Referrals & Additional Information for Medical Professionals

Patients do not need a referral to be seen in this practice but if a medical professional would like to send me specific information please click the Referral Form button on this page to submit HIPAA compliant information electronically or fax your usual referral form and relevant information to 757-540-0234.

Having lived in Williamsburg since 2006 and practiced as a a nurse practitioner in local urgent care, primary care and orthopedic practices since 2011, I have had a chance to get to know many physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists and other medical professionals personally and professionally. I encourage any medical professional to contact me for a phone call or a meeting to ask questions or say hello.

Connections with Local Practices

  • Primary Care

Primary care physicians and other practitioners might refer a patient to me to discuss extensive and questionable nutritional supplements and herbal products and their potential interactions with prescription medications and/or to assist with lifestyle changes with new diagnoses such as prediabetes, diabetes or hypertension. I am experienced with talking to patients who would like a “natural” approach but also have significant medical diagnoses. I also have a special interest in talking to patients about stress related symptoms and the connections between mind and body. I have always gone out of my way to support the decisions of primary care practices as I saw their patients in urgent care and orthopedic settings and make every effort to act respectfully towards colleagues and reinforce the primary care clinician's central role in a patient’s care.

  • Counselors and Therapists

Local counselors and therapists have referred a variety of clients to me. I can provide basic medical assessment for patients who are not established with a primary care practice or who have not had recent medical care or have avoided medical care due to healthcare related anxiety. Working with uninsured patients in a walk in clinic during the pandemic and doing years of emergency room follow up visits has led me to have experience in assessing stress related diagnoses, panic attacks with physical symptoms and other medically unexplained symptoms. When appropriate, I will do ECGs in this office for non-acute symptoms and will sometimes place two week cardiac monitoring patches in preparation for cardiology appointments. Working within my scope of practice I am also trained in protocols to address physical symptoms from a mindbody perspective and have provided massage therapy services to therapy clients who are working through histories of trauma.

  • Urgent Care

My roots in urgent care settings still inspire me and make me aware of particular ways my independent practice might assist those currently working in urgent care. Urgent care centers can refer patients who are looking for a physical or need refills of (non-controlled) medications and are not currently established with a primary practice or are waiting for an appointment. You can also refer people wanting testing for sexually transmitted infections that is not run through insurance and/or other labwork that patients want to pay for directly without insurance, so they can know the price ahead of time.

  • Surgical Practices

Having worked in a surgical practice in the past, I can assist with providing a preoperative physical for patients who are not established with a primary care practice or have other medical needs that need to be addressed before surgery. Please fax your practice’s form specifying what you would like included in a preoperative exam, such as review of medical history, physical assessment, labwork and/or ECG, to 757-540-0234.
